Four men were being questioned at Galway Garda Station last evening following an armed robbery at a city centre jeweller’s yesterday morning.
At around 10.45am yesterday four masked men entered Hartmann’s jeweller’s on William Street. One of the men was armed with what was described as a gun.
The men threatened the staff and stole a substantial quantity of jewellery and high end watches before making their escape on foot.
Four men were arrested in the city centre shortly after the robbery; all of the stolen property was recovered, along with what is believed to be an imitation firearm.
The men were being held yesterday under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984. It is understood the men can be detained for up to 24 hours.
