American Sniper to kick-start subtitled screenings at IMC

Cinema introduces new measure for hard of hearing film fans

AMERICAN SNIPER, the new film starring Bradley Cooper and directed by Clint Eastwood, will be screened with subtitles this Thursday at 6.30pm in the IMC Galway.

The screening is an initiative from the cinema to accommodate film-goers who are hard of hearing, following numerous enquiries from that community to the IMC Cinemas nationwide. A new release will be shown with subtitles every fortnight.

American Sniper centres on Navy SEAL Chris Kyle (Cooper ). His pinpoint accuracy as a shooter has saved the lives of many of his comrades on battlefields in Iraq, turning him into a legend. Yet back home with his wife and children, he finds it extremely difficult to re-adjust to civilian life.

The film also stars Sienna Miller and Kyle Gallner, and is based on the memoirs of Chris Kyle. FILMINK (Australia ) said of American Sniper, “Bravely refusing any form of hagiography, Eastwood triumphs with a measured, morally complex, and utterly gripping snapshot of what war can do to the men who fight it.” BET.com said: “Politics, commentators and nationalism aside, American Sniper is a damn good film.”
