St Patrick’s Day parade to celebrate city’s creative community

The 2015 St Patrick’s Day parade will base its theme on Galway’s bid to be named European Capital of Culture 2020 as inspiration as well as celebrating Galway’s cultural and creative community.

The parade will also celebrate the city receiving the UNESCO City of Film status. Galway animator Fergal Brennan is creating a unique illustrated animation based on the parade’s narrative: St Patrick and the Time Travelling Projector.

Images of this animation will be released intermittently so members of the public are encouraged to keep an eye on local press, Facebook, and the parade website in coming weeks.

This year’s parade director is Jen Hesnan, assisted by arts director Mauricio Figueroa, who are in the process of making contact with the full range of community, voluntary, and professional groups who may contribute to this year’s parade. Groups are invited to contact Jen or Mauricio on 087 - 1998713 or e-mail [email protected].

The Galway’s St. Patrick’s Day parade is supported and funded by the Galway City Council.
