Charlie’s Country - a look at Aboriginal life

THE HARSH lives and prejudices faced by Australian Aboriginies is captured in Charlie’s Country, to be screened by the Galway Film Society in the Town Hall Theatre on Sunday [February 8] at 8pm.

This 2014 Australian film, directed by Rolf de Heer, follows Charlie, who lives in a remote Aboriginal community in Arnhem Land, where he struggles with cultural ties, white law, and racism. David Gulpilil, who plays Charlie won Best Actor, Un Certain Regard, at Cannes last year.
