Stockings, sex, and the Nazi threat

CABARET, THE classic musical based on Christopher Isherwood’s Goodbye to Berlin, and immortalised on screen in the 1973 film starring Liza Minelli, will be staged by NUIG’s Galway University Musical Society in the Black Box Theatre from Tuesday February 10 to Saturday 14 at 8pm.

Set in 1930s Berlin just as the Nazis begin rising to power, Cabaret centers on Cliff Bradshaw, an American writer who frequents the Kit Kat Klub and befriends its eccentric British singer Sally Bowles. Along the way they encounter quirky and comical characters, such as the club’s seedy and sexually ambiguous MC, but also realise dark forces threaten the Berlin they love.

Tickets are available from the NUIG Socs Box and the Town Hall (091 - 569777 or www.tht.ie ).
