Gaeltacht areas experiencing consistent employment growth - Kyne

Gaeltacht areas are experiencing consistent employment growth and the focus of this Government is to see that continue, according to Fine Gael TD for Galway West, Sean Kyne.

Údarás na Gaeltachta has released figures showing that by the end of last year, their client companies were employing a total of 7,682 people. This is thanks to consistent growth in Gaeltacht jobs over the last number of years. 737 new Údarás jobs were created last year, 271 of them in the Galway Gaeltacht. This is the highest increase in new jobs in five years.

“Thankfully 92 per cent of the total Údarás jobs created were full time positions. There is a perception that the economic recovery is only taking place on the East Coast. Actually the recent CSO figures show that unemployment dropped by 20 per cent across County Galway since the launch of the Government’s Action Plan for Jobs almost three years ago,” said Deputy Kyne.
