THE TALES Of Hoffmann is to receive a spectacular production by The Metropolitan Opera in New York, and be screened live via satellite to The Eye Cinema.
This classic French opera tells the story of a young poet and his tortured search for his ideal love, against a background of an interfering, evil, nemesis and the poetic muse demanding Hoffmann forsake human love for art. In turn, the poet tells of three infatuations, including unwittingly falling for a mechanical doll, who are all idealisations of Stella, his true love, who is targeted for corruption by a group of villains. The cast includes Vittorio Grigolo, Thomas Hampson, Hibla Gerzmava, Erin Morley, and Christine Rice. The director is Bartlett Sher.
The Tales Of Hoffmann will be screened this Saturday at 6pm. For more information and booking see www.eyecinema.ie or call 091 - 780078.
