THE DISCONAUTS and the phenomenal Atlantic Horns - two DJs and a three piece horn section - take to the Róisín Dubh stage for the first time in a year this Saturday at 11pm.
The Atlantic Horns are Ben Edwards (trumpet ), Mike Kearsey (trombone ), and Steve Hamilton (saxophone ). They have worked with Amy Winehouse, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner, Blur, and Radiohead, and over the last year recorded with Paolo Nutini, Madness, Basement Jaxx, and Robbie Williams.
The night will also mark the birthday of the late, very great, Disconauts percussionist Mark Logan, who died suddenly in 2014.
“First and foremost this Saturday night is a chance for us Disconauts and our friends to celebrate Mark's birthday,” says P Disconaut. “Our last gig together was his wonderful birthday night in Róisín Dubh last January. More importantly we will be launching a special charity night in conjunction with the Róisín Dubh for Mark taking place on Friday March 27.”
The charity night will feature bands and DJs from Galway and from across Ireland, all of whom will be giving their services for free, and money raised will go to three different charities - two with which Mark had strong connections.
Tickets are €5 available at www.roisindubh.net, the Ticket Desk at OMG Zhivago, Shop Street, and The Róisín Dubh.
