TOM STOPPARD’S The Real Inspector Hound and Peter Shaffer’s Black Comedy will be the inaugural plays that open the Galway Community College’s new auditorium on Wednesday February 4 and Thursday 5 at 8pm.
Black Comedy is a poor artist’s hilarious misadventure as he tries to keep everyone from knowing what anyone else is doing when the lights go out. The Real Inspector Hound is a farcical spoof of Agatha Christie-style murder-mysteries, set at an isolated country manor. The plays will be staged by the GCC’s Theatre Performance PLC Class. The opening night will also see the official naming of the new auditorium.
“The college’s adaptation will showcase the abundance of talented students we have enrolled on the course this year,” says course co-ordinator Lorraine O’Hara, who also directs the performances. “Many students go on to further study, and all of them leave the college with more confidence, performance skills, and loads of stage exposure.”
