SOME OF Galway’s greatest trad/folk acts, including Dolores Keane, We Banjo 3, and Dessie O’Halloran, play Monroe’s Live tomorrow at 8pm for the Walk In My Shoes Campaign.
Walk In My Shoes seeks to raise funds for mental health awareness and services and is the brainchild of traditional Irish musicians Tommy McCarthy and Louise Costello, who have been working with St Patrick’s Mental Health Foundation.
At Monroe’s tomorrow, Tommy and Louise will be joined on-stage by Dolores Keane, John Faulkner, We Banjo 3, Don Stiffe & Celtic Karma, Dessie and Jonnie O’Halloran, De Dannan’s Michelle Lally, Corina Carrick, Paddy Keane, the Lackagh Ceile Band, and others.
After seeing the success of the ice bucket challenge, Tommy was inspired to create The Trad Tune Challenge, hoping to bring equal attention to the work of St Patrick’s which supports vulnerable young adults in need of mental health services in Ireland. To date, several high profile musicians have supported his endeavours including Sharon Shannon. Within 24 hours, the challenge had reached 200,000 views.
Tickets are €25/22.50 through www.monroes.ie
