Basketball league plaudits go to NUIG Mystics who have surged into contention in the women’s first division with two wins in 24 hours.
The back-to-back victories over senior cup finalists Oblate Dynamos and IT Carlow put Mike Murray’s side in second place with three games left to play. A good scoring spread in both games helped the Galway side across the line.
“After our cup exit last weekend, our focus was back on the league this week,” said Murray. “Our team is beginning to gel, and defensively we were more physical which was especially important on the offensive boards.”
In the men’s division one, Titans Baskeetball gave their division one hopes a boost in coming from behind to beat Tolka Rovers on Saturday night.
Jordi Juste’s side trailed by seven points at the break, but 30 points by Toms Fabriciuss helped them to complete the turnaround.
