Galway venues shortlisted for IMRO music venue award

Public can vote online for National Live Music Venue 2014

THREE OF Galway city’s leading music venues - The Róisín Dubh, Monroe’s Live, and The Quays Bar - have been nominated for the IMRO Connacht Live Music Venue of the Year 2014.

Five Connact venues are competing for the title, the other two being Matt Molloy’s bar in Westport and the Hawk’s Well Theatre, Sligo. The winners of the Connacht shortlist, as well as the winners from the Munster, Ulster, Dublin, and rest of Leinster categories will be announced on Tuesday February 3 at IMRO HQ in Dublin.

More than 10,000 IMRO members considered hundreds of venues across the country for the shortlist. Venues were judged on their commitment to providing the core elements that make for a great live music venue – atmosphere, sound and lighting, staging, diversity of programming, and staff and management.

The Galway venues will also be eligable to win the IMRO National Live Music Venue of the Year, which is decided by public vote, from the combined shortlist of all the regions. The public can vote for the Galway venues through www.surveymonkey.com/s/imrovenueawards Voting closes on Monday February 2.

The Hot Press Live Music Venue of the Year Readers Poll will also be part of the awards. Voting is through www.hotpress.com/hotpressreaderspoll2014
