Corinthians struggle in this season's Ulster Bank League does not get any easier this weekend when they host promotion chasing Garryowen at Cloonacauneen Park on Saturday (2.30pm ).
Having suffered their seventh defeat in division 1B when losing by 27 - 13 to Malone in Belfast, Corinthians dropped closer to the relegation spot, just three points ahead of bottom-placed Belfast Harlequins.
Corinthians had travelled to Gibson Park with high hopes having disposed of Malone earlier in the season, but despite a bright start when Dwyane Corcoran slotted a penalty, they found themselves down at the break by 10 points.
Right wing Neil Burns had replied with two penalties, before their solid scrum enabled the pack to drive over the whitewash for a try, which Burns converted for 13 - 3 lead.
Corinthians missed a kickable penalty immediately after the restart, but Corcoran reduced the arrears after a good passage of play when the Ulster players were eventually pulled for foul play in front of their posts.
However the home side regained the initiative and grabbed another two tries for a comfortable lead.
Corinthians never gave up and were rewarded when Connacht wing Niyi Adeolokun scored his first try for Corinthians after a great maul by their pack.
