GMIT students receive sports scholarships

Twenty-five sports scholarships have been awarded to GMIT students who have excelled in individual sports. The programme is worth €32,000 in scholarships and bursaries across all five GMIT campuses, in addition to a complete range of support for the students’ sport and academic requirements.

Molly Dunne, GMIT sports development officer, says the scholarships are a key initiative, jointly funded by the college and the students’ union to promote excellence and player development across all sports in GMIT.

This college year has already seen success with two football scholarship recipients winning the Connacht football title with Corofin, while two volleyball scholarship students were part of the victorious GMIT men’s team that will represent Ireland in England in 2015 after winning the recent intervarsities tournament.
