Athenry students to launch recipe book for autism awareness

An enterprising group of students from Gairmscoil Mhuire in Athenry will launch a book of recipes today to raise funds for local autism charities.

The book, entitled Recipes From The Stars, features favourite recipes from a host of famous people as well as the students' families and friends.

The book is the work of Gairmscoil Mhuire mini-company Réalta le Chéile, comprising Sarah Connors (chairperson ), Darren Hession (production manager ), Aran Potts (secretary ), Clara Callanan (treasurer ), Áine Clancy (marketing manager ), Sinéad Molloy, Amy Gilmore, and Emma Ruane.

The aim of the book is to raise awareness of autism and proceeds will go to Galway Autism Partnership, the Irish Society for Autism, and Autism Ireland. The group also aims to promote inclusion in their community and the book forms part of their project for the Galway City and County Enterprise Awards .

Recipes From The Stars includes recipes from Daithi O Sé, Mary Kennedy, AP McCoy, Pat Shortt, Hector O hEochagain, James Reilly, Rachael Allen, Donal Skehan, and many more.

The book will be launched by legendary sports broadcaster Mícheál O Muircheartaigh in Gairmscoil Mhuire, Athenry, today (Thursday ) and will be on sale locally, in Galway bookshops, and at the Christmas market in Athenry this Friday and Saturday.
