Galway WFC will look to continue their new-found winning form on Sunday when Wexford Youths are the visitors to Eamonn Deacy Park.
Last weekend Galway turned in a five-star performance to grab their first win of the season, running out 5-0 winners over Cork City.
Galway WFC manager Don O’Riordan said getting the first win of the season was a “big relief”.
“Sunday got the monkey off our backs. We knew the first win wasn't far away, and to do it scoring a few goals and keeping a clean sheet was a bonus.
“We now look forward to the visit of league leaders Wexford Youths to Eamonn Deacy Park this Sunday. We went down to Wexford in October and lost easily, which was not a true reflection on the team. This Sunday I hope we can perform similarly to the past few weeks and really give them a game.”
Galway keeper Tina Hughes came to the rescue in the opening minutes in Eamonn Deacy Park last Saturday evening when she pushed a Vanessa Ogbonna shot out for a corner, but thereafter Galway took over.
Galway opened the scoring on 10 minutes when Lynsey McKey fired home from the edge of the box. On 18 minutes Eleanor Stafford saw her shot rattle the crossbar, and two minutes later Ruth Fahy rose to head home a Méabh De Búrca corner.
Although Galway dominated the opening half they could not add to their tally before the break, but Stafford found the net when she poked home an Alana Moran cross after the restart.
McKey popped up for her second on 69 minutes, and although a McKey shot 10 minutes later hit the post to deny her a hat trick, 16-years-old Róisín Jacob rattled the net with the rebound.
