Free concert of Irish and Estonian music

To mark the 10th anniversary of the Two Wildes sculpture, there will be a concert of Irish and Estonian music this evening at 8pm.

The concert, which is taking place in the Aula Maxima, NUI Galway, also marks the 10th anniversary of Estonia’s accession to the EU. In 2004 Galway was chosen as the Irish city that would welcome Estonia into the EU and to commemorate the occasion Estonia presented Galway with the statue of Irish writer Oscar Wilde and Estonian writer Edvard Wilde.

The concert will hear music by Arnold Bax, Iwan Muller, Arvo Part and James Wilson performed by Estonian quartet Clarinette Omintique, Claire McCague (concert harp ), Maano Maani (violin ), and Dermot Dunne (accordion ). There will also be readings from the works of Oscar Wilde and Edvard Wilde. Admission is free and all are welcome.
