Kevin Bridges - two Galway shows in July

Tickets go on sale tomorrow

KEVIN BRIDGES, the Scottish comedian described by fellow Scot Billy Connolly as “brilliant”, by The Guardian as a “comedy prodigy”, and by the Daily Mirror as “a MUST-SEE act” is coming to Galway next year to play two shows.

Kevin is bringing his new show A Whole Different Story… to the Seapoint Ballroom, Salthill, on Wednesday July 22 and Thursday 23 at 7pm and tickets go on sale tomorrow [Tuesday December 2] at 9am.

Kevin’s trademark social commentary, sharp one-liners, and laugh-out-loud humour blend with reflections on both his Glaswegian childhood and Scottish identity. A fine example is this hilarious routine on John Terry and the Old Firm Celtic v Rangers derby:

Bridges began his comedy career at 17 when he made his debut in a Glasgow comedy club and brought the house down. Since then his career has risen to the point where, in 2012, his show The Story Continues… smashed box office records, selling 45,000 tickets on the first day. The following epic 136-date tour culminating in a sell-out run throughout Australia.

The last 12 months have also been incredibly busy, with Kevin hosting three shows for BBC1 including critically acclaimed documentaries and stand up shows on the Commonwealth Games and the Scottish Referendum.

October marked another milestone in Kevin’s career with the publication of his autobiography We Need To Talk About... (Penguin Books ). In it he writes: “First of all, I have never written a book before, you probably haven't either, so there we have it; a connection is established between reader and writer... Hopefully now you’ll take this over to the till and I can accompany you for the next wee while. That's the benefit of book shops, reading the little bit and then deciding if the author deserves to be part of your carefully selected 3 for 2 deal, or part of your plane journey, train journey, your next bath, your next shite.”

This is a ‘Róisín Dubh Comedy presents...’ event. Tickets are €34.50 including booking fees and are available from the Róisín Dubh, Dominick Street; www.roisindubh.net; The Ticket Desk at OMG@Zhivago, Shop Street; and Ticketmaster outlets nationwide. The show is suitable only for those aged 18 and over.
