Still time to get into the ring to fight heart disease

There was an air of healthy competition and rivalry at the launch of the Irish Heart Foundation’s Big Heart Fight Night which is set to take place in the Radisson Blu Hotel on March 13.

The nine week training programme for the event commences January 13th with over twenty people already signed up to compete. There still an opportunity for anyone who wishes to get involved to sign up at www.irishheart.ie/boxing

Training takes place each Tuesday and Thursday evening from 6-7pm with certified boxing instructor Pete Foley at the Black Dragon Kickboxing Gym on the Tuam Road with an extra open session on Saturdays from 2-3.30pm.

Breffni Gorman, Regional Fundraising Manager with the Irish Heart Foundation said: “At the Irish Heart Foundation our slogan is fighting heart disease and stroke and our big hearted fighters help to do this – quite literally!

“As a national charity largely funded by public and corporate donations, events like this are vital to raise funds to support our charity. A sincere thanks goes to all the Big Heart Fighters who put their hearts and souls into this fantastic event in aid of our charity over the past three years and we look forward to making some new friends for the 2015 event.
