Hurling championship recommences

Turloughmore’s appeal against their explusion from the Galway Senior Hurling Championship has been lost.

At a hearing before the Disputes Resolution Authority Tribunal in Mullingar on Monday evening, the appeal against the decision of the Galway Competitions Control Committee was unsuccessful.

This allows the Galway Senior Hurling Championship to recommence immediately and Ardrahan are due to take on Beagh this Sunday in Kenny Park (2pm ).

The winners this weekend are then expected to face 2011 champions Gort at the semi-final stage on Sunday week (November 30 ).

Reigning county and All-Ireland champions Portumna, who have won six of the last 11 county titles, have already qualified for the county final. They won their semi-final tie against Craughwell by 1-15 to 0-15 on October 12 in Athenry and it remains to be seen if they will be asked to play in the 2014 county final in December.
