Jes remembrance Mass to take place later this month

The annual Mass in memory of deceased members of the Jes school community will take place on Sunday November 30.

The Mass, now in its fourth year, brings together pupils past and present, staff past and present, and priests to commemorate those who have died or suffered a bereavement in the past 12 months.

The Mass was the initiative of the late Fr John Humphreys SJ, who passed away on October 10. Fr Humphreys was the Jesuit superior in Galway up to the time of his illness; he also chaired the school board of management and taught at the school in the seventies and eighties.

This year's event is organised by the Jes Past Pupils' Union in conjunction with the Jes secondary and national schools and the Jesuit community in Galway.

The Mass will feature the Scoil Iognáid choir and will take place at 11am on Sunday November 30 in the Jesuit Church on Sea Road. All those who have a connection to the Jes are welcome to attend.

Coláiste Iognáid will host tea and coffee in the new school building after the Mass for all those attending.
