Registration opens for Galway’s bike rental scheme ahead of launch in ten days

Registration has opened this week for the Coca-Cola Zero Bikes scheme, which is due to launch in Galway later this month.

The National Transport Authority this week announced further details of the scheme, which will go live in Galway on Monday November 24.

People can now register for the initiative on www.bikeshare.ie, and avail of an early bird discount of 50 per cent, or €5 for an annual subscription. This special offer is available until the end of the year.

The annual subscription allows customers to avail of a bike for 30 minutes free of charge, with longer journeys charged by the hour or half-hour.

Customers who register for an annual subscription will receive a welcome pack in the post containing details of the scheme and a subscription card.

The Coca-Cola Zero sponsored scheme will be operated by consortium An Rothar Nua, which will be supplying 205 bikes for Galway city with 19 docking statio

The national scheme is due to roll out in Limerick and Cork in December.

“The bikes will be an exciting new addition to the cities of Limerick, Cork, and Galway for business and recreational users alike,” Gerry Murphy, CEO of the National Transport Authority, said this week. “We urge anyone interested in using the bikes in any of the three cities to take advantage of the special 50 per cent discount offer by registering now at www.bikeshare.ie
