Dub reggae man Mad Professor @ Monroe’s

A DISCIPLE of Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Mad Professor is no insignificant figure in reggae himself, as Galway will see when he plays Monroe’s Live on Thursday November 27 at 8pm as part of his current Irish tour.

Mad Professor (aka Guyana born Neil Fraser ) is one of the leading producers in dub reggae’s second generation, the Prof’s Dub Me Crazy albums helped dub make the transition into the digital age, when electronic productions started to take over mainstream reggae in the 1980s. His tracks also expanded dub’s sonic blueprint, adding more elements and layers of sound than his forebears typically did.

As well as working with reggae legends like Sly & Robbie, he has also collaborated with Massive Attack, The Orb, Beastie Boys, Sade, and Depeche Mode.

Support is from Mama Kasbah. Tickets are €17 online or €20 on the door. See www.monroes.ie for more information.
