Galway Intermediate football champions Killanin were far too strong for a disappointing Calry/St Joseph's (Sligo ) in atrocious weather conditions at Tuam Stadium on Sunday.
The blue and white clad men hit 5-17 over the hour compared to a meagre 0-6 for the Sligo men.
Killanin produced top quality goals from Cathal and Patrick Sweeney, Ruairí Greene, Johnny Heaney and the impressive Niall Walsh.
Team manager Pat Quealey was pleased the moves being worked on the training field over the past few months are coming to fruition in championship football.
"The lads showed a terrific work ethic all through, and even when they got well ahead, they continued to push on and support each other. It was also great to give some game time to as many of the lads on the panel as possible, as we will need everyone for the challenges that lie ahead.
"We took nothing for granted last weekend, and our focus has now switched totally to the Connacht final against St Croans, Roscommon, on Sunday week (November 16 ) at Tuam Stadium.
"Despite all the rain over the past 10 days, the sod at Tuam was perfect last weekend and held up very well. The team of people that run Tuam Stadium have been very supportive and decent to us every time we have played there this year, and we are very appreciative of that.
"It is fantastic the Connacht final is a double header with the Connacht Junior final too and with the Aran Islands involved [against Achill], it should be a terrific occasion and one we are looking forward to immensely".
