New world champs

Galway kickboxers were celebrating success on the world’s biggest stage last week.

Six members of the Galway Black Dragon Kickboxing Club were among the 36-strong Ireland delegation at the 2014 Unified World Martial Arts Championships which attracted more than 10,000 from around the world.

The Galwegian contingent, which included Gary Manogue, Charlie Ward, Saoirse Joyce and Alex Fitzpatrick, returned with five gold, one silver, one bronze and a fourth place.
