ConTempo lunchtime concert

THE CONTEMPO Quartet will give a lunchtime concert at the Galway City Library, this Tuesday at 1.10pm.

The programme is Joseph Haydn’s String Quartet in E-Flat Major, Op 64, No 6 from the ‘Tost’ Quartets. Composed in 1790, they were named after the Hungarian violinist and later merchant Johann Tost who helped Haydn find a publisher for the works.

ConTempo will also perform Escalay: The Water Wheel by El Din, which mixes Arabic and Nubian sounds and has influenced such composers as Steve Reich and Terry Riley.

Admission to the concert is free but early arrival is advised.
