Keaveney calls for suspension of water charges pending full review of Irish Water

Dep Colm Keaveney has called for the suspension of water charges until there is a complete review of the workings of Irish Water and how it is to be funded.

The Fianna Fáil TD for Galway East said he intends to force a special debate on Irish Water during Private Members Business in the Dáil this week, calling on the Government to fully review the funding model at Irish Water and immediately cease the payment of bonuses at the company.

“The series of damaging mishaps – from the outrageous set-up and consultancy costs that only emerged under media questioning to revelations about five figure bonuses for senior managers – have left people in Galway frustrated and angry,” he said.
