SS Renewables Moycullen men’s basketball secured their second win on the trot in this year’s National League division one.
It is the perfect start for Salva Camps’ young side after the club’s decision to move from the premier league to division 1 for this season.
Having opened with a win over Titans in a local derby, Moycullen followed up with a 72 – 63 victory over Team Left Bank Kilkenny.
A key to this victory was nullifying the threat of Kilkenny’s Puff Summers, who coming into the game having scored 30 points against Demons, was limited to just 13 points.
In what was a tight battle, Moycullen led 36 to 32 at half time, and with the game in the balance going into the fourth quarter, eventually Moycullen ran out nine-point winners.
Ronan O’Sullivan was the top scorer on 22 with Patrick Lyons scoring 19, while Paul Freeman put in a very strong performance at both ends.
Moycullen’s next match is away to Eanna in Dublin on Saturday October 25.
This weekend the club’s action turns to the u-20 men’s side in the first round of the National Cup competition.
Moycullen face East Cavan Eagles in Killannin Community Centre on Saturday at 7pm.
Also in division one, JM & L Auctioneers Titans secured a comfortable win over Tolka Rovers by 75-57.
