A free musical evening featuring local performers from around Galway will take place in St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church this month as part of a series of events to mark Manuela Riedo’s seventh anniversary.
Organised by the Manuela Riedo Foundation, ‘Songs, Tunes, and Words’ will bring together a variety of performers to raise their instruments and voices to support victims of sexual violence, and in giving thanks to the people who work in Galway city and county to support those victims.
Among those performing at the event will be Spideog, a youth choir set up in memory of Manuela. The pilot project of Spideog, launched this year as part of the transition year programme in five of the city’s secondary schools, brings together more than 70 students from across Galway. The project has also helped to increase awareness and education for the teens in the area of sexual violence.
‘Song, Tunes, and Words’ will take place in St Nicholas’ on Wednesday October 8 at 8pm, and all are welcome.
