ONE OF the greatest contemporary cellists, Daniel Müller-Schott, will join The RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, under conductor Alan Burivayev, for a concert in Leisureland, Salthill, on Thursday October 9 at 8pm.
The concert programme is Dvorak’s Cello Concerto in B minor, which allows cellists to display their virtuoso side; Brahms’ serene Variations on a Theme of Joseph Haydn, and Richard Strauss’ swashbuckling Don Joan. Galway audiences will have a chance to see cellist Daniel Müller-Schott in action and hear why The Sunday Times described his performances as having “the winning freshness of rediscovery”.
The concert will also be the debut Galway performance of Kazakhstan’s Alan Burivayev. A graduate of the Kazakh State Conservatory as both violinist and conductor, he has served as principal conductor of the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra since 2010 while continuing as chief conductor of the Brabants Orchestra in Holland. He has also conducted with the Oslo Philharmonic, NDR Hamburg, and the Deutsche Symphony Orchester in Berlin.
Tickets are €20/16/6 from Music for Galway (091 - 705962, [email protected] ); Opus II, High Street; or www.tht.ie
