EMMY AWARD winning director, Dearbhla Walsh, and leading casting director, Maureen Hughes are coming to Galway in October to tutor auditioning workshops.
Dearbhla Walsh has just completed directing Roald Dahl’s Esio Trot, starring Dustin Hoffman and Judi Dench. Maureen Hughes has cast Noble, Love/Hate, The Butcher Boy, and Once. In the workshop, they will cover the do’s and don’ts of auditions, give advice on getting work, and on self-taping auditions.
The workshop takes place on Tuesday October 21 at 2pm in The Harbour Hotel. The deadline is September 30.
On Wednesday October 22 and Thursday 23, there will be a two-day workshop for a smaller group of actors. Actors will submit a self-taped piece in advance of the workshop and that will be critiqued. They will also have an opportunity to rehearse, workshop, and audition certain scenes. The deadline for application is September 23.
The courses are organised by the Galway Film Centre and Screen Training Ireland. For more information contact Mary Deely (091 - 770748 ), Sorcha Loughnane (01 - 6798040 ) or see www.screentrainingireland.ie
