Ever wondered about who the people on the radio are? Well, there is a chance to meet them on Friday September 5 for the Soundout Radio Day at Gort Education and Media Centre.
The centre in Gort will be all abuzz from 12 noon to 3pm with the sound of music, chat, and the craic, when the out-going students of the 2013/2014 radio production course host a live open day. The students, who have undertaken the course over the past 10 months, will showcase their radio production work at the live broadcast event, as well as helping the centre highlight its other training courses due to start this autumn.
This free event, which is open to the public, kicks off at midday with a live radio broadcast on the students’ own online radio station, Soundout Radio. The afternoon promises to be superb fun with the very best of radio entertainment as well as live music by The Kandedance and a tasty barbeque to whet all appetites.
Gort centre director, Sinéad Morgan of Galway and Roscommon Education and Training Board, commented on the event: “This is an excellent opportunity for the students at Gort Education and Media Centre to promote the radio production skills they have acquired and for us at the centre to highlight the wide variety of courses that we offer. Furthermore, the free open day affords potential students from the local community and beyond a chance to visit the facility for themselves.”
