Piano accordion lessons with Yvonne McGinley

It is never too late to learn how to play music. Maybe you have watched people playing and said to yourself ‘I wish I could do that’. Maybe you would like to give your child that opportunity. Children can learn from as young as seven, but there is no upper age limit.

Yvonne McGinley, originally from Donegal, was awarded first class honours on the BA Irish music and dance at the University of Limerick before completing a postgraduate diploma in music education at the NUI Galway. She has taught music at primary school level and secondary school level as well as group classes for Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann.

McGinley’s core focus has been Irish traditional music, but her adaptability has seen her perform throughout Europe and record with several bands over the years incorporating many styles of music from other cultures and genres.

For the classes, McGinley will have some extra accordions for new students, and afterwards, students can rent or ‘rent to buy’ an accordion from her. Even then, there is no obligation to buy. Students can join classes at any stage, the first class you attend is free, and booking is not essential but is advised.

She also provides private lessons.
