Currently nurses are in high demand but in short supply according to Lisa Reenan, Nurse Recruitment Manager with Servisource Recruitment.
There is a perception among the nursing community especially graduate nurses that there is a lack of nursing opportunities in Ireland and that it is necessary for them to travel. However according to Ms Reenan, Servisource has a large number of nursing vacancies in the west and throughout Ireland across various disciplines including general, psychiatric, paediatric, intellectual disability and homecare nurses throughout Ireland.
“As Ireland progresses out of the recession we should be encouraging our highly valued nurses to stay at home rather than travelling abroad. Unfortunately in some cases where nurses are offered fantastic opportunities abroad when they reach their destination the reality is often very different.
“ We are encouraging nurses to stay at home where they can develop their skills during their first year working as a nurse and then continue their professional development by specialising in a particular field of expertise,” she said.
Currently Servisource has up to 100 varied nursing roles nationwide including permanent, contract and agency roles. Contrary to public perception there are permanent roles available in Ireland and Servisource is currently trying to fill a number of permanent vacancies. For those who wish to earn extra money there is also the option of agency nursing as a result Servisource can offer nurses the best working options to suit their particular circumstances.
