Jim Sheridan launches call for entries to the Sky Road TV and Film Festival

Sky Road TV and Film Festival, an exciting new three-day event taking place at the Station House Theatre in Clifden, is calling for submissions for this year’s festival.

The Sky Road Festival runs from Friday September 5 to Sunday September 7.

Director Jim Sheridan and actor Aoibheann McCaul are leading this particular call, urging applicants to submit via www.skyroadfilmfestival.ie

Festival chairman Eamonn Ó Cualáin commented, “The aim of Sky Road TV and Film Festival is to give Irish filmmakers a better opportunity to screen their content at festival level. If you have a new documentary or film in post production we would love you to submit.”

The festival is looking for applicants to a variety of competition categories, including best feature film, best short film, best feature documentary, best short documentary, and best documentary series.

The festival also provides categories in new media, or media that has been shot and edited on a smart phone or tablet. These categories include 10 second shorts, one minute shorts, and three minute shorts.

Sky Road will work closely with producers and broadcasters, determined to bring the latest content in Irish cinema and television, in both Irish and English language, to the programme. The goal is to engage with filmmakers by providing a platform for discussion regarding media, trends, and the financial options available.

For those seeking a career in the industry, or with an interest in TV and film production, the festival will run practical workshops in animation, cinematography, acting, and video editing. The festival calls on local community groups, schools, and third level colleges to get in touch and become involved with the festival.

Sky Road hopes to stimulate the development of best international practice in documentary, TV formats, and co-productions by providing a forum for screenings, discussions, and master classes. It will also screen a range of local interest films.
