Galway Community College continues to offer PLC courses in many exciting areas

Galway Community College continues to offer a wide variety of courses for school leavers and continuing professional development. There is a broad range of FETAC/QQI Level 5 and 6 courses on offer, with tutors constantly developing new modules and links to business.

The college’s six specialist departments are childcare, business and media, design and technology, music and performance, sports, and horticulture. Level 6 courses in business management, multimedia and web development, TV and film production, and advanced certificates in sport development and childcare are also offered. New for September 2014 is a course in radio and sound production, in conjunction with Galway Bay FM.

The college boasts above average progression to third level, where students can obtain up to 400 points for entry into institutes of technology and university both in Ireland and through the UCAS route in England. Students studying a FETAC Level 6 course at GCC can apply for a place in second year in selected colleges.

CAO preparation and career guidance form an integral part of student services at GCC. Other services include five computer suites, dedicated specialist rooms, a newly refurbished gym, new dance studio, a student café. PLC at GCC is committed to promoting and establishing links within the higher education sector including GMIT and University of Limerick, as well as establishing links with industry through work experience and guest speakers.
