American folk and blues @ Monroe’s Live

MARTY O’REILLY is from California, but his music is steeped in the heritage of the Mississippi Delta and Southern folk.

O’Reilly, and his band The Old Soul Orchestra - Jeff Kissell (double bass ) and Chris Lynch (fiddle ) - are coming to Galway to play Monroe’s Live this Saturday.

The Irish-American performs original music and old American folk and blues classics. He began his musical journey with the blues, exploring Blind Willie Johnson, Mississippi John Hurt, and John Lee Hooker, and later incorporated influences from John Fahey and Tom Waits.

The trio formed in 2012, and have played the Outside Lands Festival, the Rivertown Revival Festival, and the Do It Ourselves Festival. Last year they released their self-titled debut album.

Tickets are €10 and available from www.monroes.ie There is free entry until 11.30pm with a Galway Races wristband or race card.
