One man received serious leg injuries in a three-vehicle pile-up which saw the Curragh Line closed to traffic for four hours on Tuesday.
The accident occurred when a van and an oil lorry were involved in a head-on collision at Carrowbrowne at around 11.30am on Tuesday. A car also became involved in the collision.
Emergency services rushed to the scene of the accident, and the driver of the van was cut from his vehicle by Galway Fire Services before being brought by ambulance to University College Hospital. It is understood the man sustained serious leg injuries in the crash but his injuries are not life-threatening.
No-one else was injured in the incident.
Gardaí sealed off the road between Ballindooley Cross and Corrandulla for some four hours while the Garda forensic collision investigation unit examined the scene of the crash. Gardaí are continuing to investigate the incident, and witnesses are asked to contact Galway Garda Station at (091 ) 538000.
