Singer songwriter prodigy Sarah Jarosz to play Campbell’s Tavern this weekend

SARAH JAROSZ will play Campbell’s Tavern this Saturday July 19 at 8pm as part of the Galway International Arts Festival.

A singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from just outside Austin, Texas, Jarosz has three albums to her name already at the age of 23.

Her latest album, 2013’s Build Me Up From Bones, a follow up to 2011’s Follow Me Down, quickly garnered two Grammy nominations for Best Folk Album and Best American Roots Song, adding to her earlier nomination for her song “Mansinneedof” from her debut album Song Up In Her Head. Jarosz has also been nominated for Americana Music Association Awards for New/Emerging Artist of the Year (2010 ), Instrumentalist of the Year (2011 ), Song of the Year (2012 ), and Album of the Year (2014 ).

Described by Rolling Stone as Gillian Welch’s “long-lost daughter” and by the New York Times as a mandolin and banjo prodigy who is “one of acoustic music’s most promising young talents”, Jarosz’s music fits comfortably where contemporary folk, Americana, and roots music intersect. She tours with stellar instrumentalists Alex Hargreaves (fiddle ) and Nathaniel Smith (cello ), playing for fans of acoustic, folk, Americana, and bluegrass throughout the US and the UK. Hargreaves and Smith have a substantial presence on Build Me Up From Bones—the trio sound is the basis for a large part of the album.

Her upcoming tour of Ireland, England, Wales, and Scotland is her second trip to the UK this year, having taken in appearances at the Celtic Connections Festival and the Transatlantic Sessions Tour, and is her first visit to Irish audiences.
