Crunch games for Galway ladies in championship action

Galway ladies u-14 and minor teams are preparing for two huge games this weekend.

On Saturday Daniel Moynihan’s minors are in semi-final action against Dublin, while on Sunday the u-14 girls take on Waterford in the All Ireland B Championship Final.

The minor fixture at 2pm St Brendan’s Park, Birr 2pm ) promises to be exciting encounter in a replay of last year’s final, and Galway must be prepared for a Dublin side wanting to avenge last year’s final replay defeat. On that occasion it took a late injury-time goal for Galway to snatch the trophy.

Minor coach Daniel Moynihan is confident Galway have enough firepower up front to cause any team problems as they proved in the Connacht final against Mayo, but he says, Dublin will be no pushover.

On Sunday in McDonagh Park, Nenagh, the u-14 girls, under Con Moynihan, are also expecting a close game.

Despite losing to Mayo and narrowly to Roscommon in the Connacht Championship, they went on to easily defeat Leitrim in the Connacht final and Laois in the All- Ireland semi-final.
