It is that time of year again when Galway City Harriers start preparing for the famous "Streets of Galway" road race, which will take place on August 9.
This 29th annual Kearney Cycles Streets of Galway 8k Road Race is the jewel in the crown of Galway city athletic events, taking in the city’s highlights before taking in Salthill, the prom, and finishing in the Claddagh.
First staged in 1986, the ethos has always been “sport for all”, and it has continued to attract runners of all standards and ages from all over Ireland - elite international athletes, athletic club runners, competitors from other sports, joggers, and walkers.
This year Martin Kearney and his company Kearney Cycles will sponsor the event, while there is a new corporate/gym team competition. The first three members of a team home will score in this competition.
Registration is €20 for early registration and €25 for late registration. All runners receive a Streets of Galway T-shirt. Teams can enter using the workplace/gym/non-AI team category.
As always the race is expected to sell out. To register visit www.runireland.com or www.galwaycityharriers.com
