Ashford Castle furnishings to be sold at public auction

Ashford Castle, which is currently undergoing a major refurbishment to maintain its position as one of the world’s leading hotels, is giving the public an opportunity to buy a little of its luxury.  

The castle’s antique furniture, curtains, carpets, and mirrors, which have been removed, will be sold at an auction in Cong on Wednesday July 23.      

Aidan Foley, auctioneer of The Galway Auction Rooms, will conduct a  sale of more than1,000 lots to be sold without reserve.    

It is expected the sale will be of interest to interior designers looking for luxury pieces from one of the world’s most well-known hotels.

The public auction will include the contents of two large warehouses which are currently being prepared to host the event.

Among the items will be kitchen equipment, including stainless steel work tables, sanitary ware, garden furniture, carpets, curtains, soft furnishings, towel rails, mirrors, pictures, antique furniture, chairs, and beds.

 All items are to be sold without reserve.  Viewing will be on Tuesday 22 from 10am to 8pm, with the auction commencing the following day, Wednesday July 23 at 10.30am.
