Safe Sex & Unprotected Poetry

A poetry, music, and theatre collision @ Monroe's Live

SAFE SEX & Unprotected Poetry is where music, poetry, performance, comedy, and songwriting collide, as well as featuring a man Tom Waits said is “blowing my mind.”

Canadian poet, musician, and one-man-band CR Avery mixes blues, hip-hop, spoken word, and rock. He sings his poems while beat-boxing simultaneously, pounding the piano, and adding harmonica. Allmusic.com compared him to “a collaboration between Beck and the Beastie Boys at their most experimental”, while Kruger Magazine went as far as to say, “First there were The Beats ... then there was Hunter S Thompson ... now there is CR Avery.”

Safe Sex... will also feature the great Aindrias de Staic, an actor, writer, raconteur, and virtuoso violinist. He blends story-telling with a range of Italian, Greek, and gypsy music. Melbourne’s The Herald Sun said of him: “With his brilliant blend of classic Irish comedy and unique musical talent, Aindrias de Staic provides for a thoroughly enjoyable night.”
