Athenry show celebrates all things agricultural

Celebrating 125 years this year, the Athenry Agricultural Show takes place on Sunday July 6 in the grounds of the Athenry Mart.

The show, organised by a group of volunteers, embraces all sectors of agricultural life.

A full showjumping programme starts with the first jump off at 9am while he dog show is a big attraction for all age groups, with entries taken at the dog ring from 11am.

The show boasts ponies, horses, sheep, poultry, crops vegetables, fruit, flowers, floral arrangements, eggs, home baking [adults and juniors], jams, hand crafts (adults and juniors ), art (adults and juniors ), and photography exhibits.

A number of trade and food stalls are attending, while a fancy dress competition for boys and girls, ages 3-6 and 7-11 will be held at 3pm.

Music this year will be provided by Country Roads.
