Knockdoemore pitches host first Feile fixtures

Claregalway ladies, who hosted Kilkenny City for the 2014 Feile, enjoyed a successful weekend, topping their group to advance to the quarter-finals.

In their first game against the Meath champions Dunboyne, Claregalway emerged winners by 3-0 to 0-4, and they followed up with a easy 3-5 to 0-0 win over St Brendan’s.

In their final group game, Claregalway played their first fixture on the new Knockdoemore pitches where a tree was planted to mark the occasion of Kilkenny’s first visit and the first Feile game to be played.

The home side also enjoyed another comfortable win to top the group and advance to the quarter-final, travelling to Clonberne again to Kilkerrin\Clonberne for a place in the cup semi-final. After a close opening half which saw the teams level with two points each at the break it was the home team that emerged winners on a score of 0-8 to 0-4, and went on to contest the final.

Claregalway also headed to Ballyhaunis to support their visitors Kilkenny City who had qualified for the shield semi-final which they won, but it was Galway side Corofin who claimed the Shield.
