Arts festival shows @ Monroe’s Live

IRISH TRAD and a bit of jazz will be heard in Monroe’s Live at the shows the venue is hosting as part of the Galway International Arts Festival.

The fist show sees both aforementioned genres of music come together on Wednesday July 16, when the acclaimed folk Galway singer Mary McPartlan and New York jazz pianist Bertha Minton take the stage.

On Thursday 17, the brilliant Luka Bloom will play. Expect to hear songs from his most recent album Head and Heart. Another act with a new album is folk, roots, Americana quartet We Banjo Three, who will play music from Gather The Good on Wednesday 23.

Singer-songwriter Mark Geary plays on Friday 25, for what will be his first GIAF show.

Monroe's Live will also host the popular 1pm Trad Lunchtime shows with Boston duo Tommy McCarthy (fiddle/mandolin ) and Louise Costello (banjo/accordion ) and Noel O’Grady (bouzouki ) on Thursday 17; Tony Trundle (vocals/fiddle ) and Jimmy Higgins (percussion ) on Friday 18; Laoise Kelly (harp ) and Cormac Breathnach (whistle ) Saturday 19; Leonard Barry (uilleann pipes ), Conor Byrne (flute ), and Andy McMorrrow on Thursday 24; Four Winds on Friday 25; and Noel Shine and Mary Greene of Greenshine on Saturday 26.
