Galway Alliance Against War members Margaretta D’Arcy and Niall Farrell will appear before Ennis District Court at 10.30am tomorrow (Tuesday June 24 ).
Ms D’Arcy (80 ) and Mr Farrell (61 ) are charged with “interfering with the proper use” of Shannon Airport on September 1 2013, following a peaceful protest on the runway, demanding there should be no invasion of Syria by the US.
Nobel Peace Prize winner Mairéad Corrigan and The Irish Times security correspondent Tom Clonan will both be witnesses for the defence. The trial will be heard by Judge Patrick Durcan.
It was as a result of a conviction under a similar charge that 80 year old Margaretta D’Arcy spent three months of a six months sentence in prison earlier this year.
