Inis Mór prepares for Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series

Ireland will stage the third stop of the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series 2014 at the Serpent’s Lair on Inis Mór this June 28 and 29.

The world’s elite cliff divers will return to Ireland for the second time to the rugged west coast of Ireland for a dramatic competition over two days at the end of June.

They defy gravity, perform tricks of breathtaking complexity and reach speeds of more than 85kph in less than three seconds. Cliff divers not only pursue the purest extreme sport on earth, but it is a sport that is also rapidly evolving. Seven stops, three continents and one champion – the countdown to the third stop of the 2014 World Series is well and truly on.

On June 28 and 29, 10 of the world’s best cliff divers and four wildcards will come together at Serpent’s Lair to launch themselves from a 27-metre platform. They will dive straight into the legendary blowhole known as Poll na Peist – the Serpent’s Lair and fight for the prestigious title of the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series Champion. With tricks as aesthetic as ever and as difficult as never before, the judges’ and the spectators’ eyes will turn towards reigning champion Artem Silchenko and the divers coveting his World Series title.
