Pierre Bensusan - the master guitarist returns

PIERRE BENSUSAN, the genius guitarist, whose “playing [is] so far above average as to approach the supernatural”, according to the New York Times, returns to Galway.

The French-Algerian musician is marking his 40 years in the business with a world tour - and a new album, Encore - which takes in the Róisín Dubh on Sunday June 29 at 8pm.

Encore is a triple album of 35 tracks taken from concerts recorded between 1974 and 2013, including two fascinating duets with Dream Theatre’s keyboard wizard Jordan Rudess and several recordings with bluegrass banjo great Bill Keith.

The tour also marks Pierre’s long association with Lowden Guitars. On a British/Irish tour in 1977, Pierre met guitar luthier George Lowden and has since been a dedicated user of the latter’s guitars.

Guitar virtuoso Steve Vai said this about Pierre Bensusan: “Listening to Pierre Bensusan is rejuvenating. Beside his extraordinary touch and tone, the notes and melody appeal directly to the tender side of our human nature.”

Tickets are available at www.roisindubh.net, the Ticket Desk at OMG Zhivago, Shop Street, and The Róisín Dubh.
