FEBRUARY AND Mars live, the start of a new clubnight, and the second instalment of Get Boogie! are all taking place at Factory this weekend.
Factory has started a new clubnight for Thursdays - Long Hot Summer Nights - which will see Factory resident DJs alongside the best local and national DJs and live acts, and admission is free.
First up are Dublin DJs Morgan Buckley and Daire Carolan. Buckley previously made hip hop under the name Lemonada, but now signed to Holland’s Rush Hour, his new direction sees him making House music in a similar vein to Theo Parrish.
Carolan, as well as manning the counter in Dublin’s All City record store, runs First Second, a digital label which provides an outlet for young producers.
Get Boogie!, sister session to Jungle Boogie!, sees its second instalment tomorrow from 11pm. The night will feature footwork, bass, breaks, and ‘old skool’ jungle. Guests on the night are Athlone’s Shook Norris, Brussels’ RDC, and Welfare. Admission is free.
On Saturday Epoch will host electronic duo February and Mars who are bringing a heavy hardware based live show to Factory from 11pm.
Their output to date on John Daly’s Feel Music label has been influenced by eighties synth, prog rock, and Balearic house. Their live show is comparable with the pioneering Detroit electro sounds akin to Model 500 and Drexciya but sets itself apart with ethereal melodies and vocals over gritty arrpegiated basslines and rugged 808 drum machine beats.
Support is from Colin Finnegan. Admission is €5 before midnight. See facebook.com/epoch galway for more details.
